FAQs

Who is allowed to sign up and Play for Trident F.C.

Any child in grades 1st-12th are allowed to join our amazing club! We do our best to ensure team sizes stay within a manageable scope so that we do not have an abnormal amount of players on the sidelines. Priority will be given to existing players of the club (and their families) and then a first come first served registration basis. There will be exceptions made if it helps to properly balance out the developmental and tactical needs of the club.

If i signed up to Play Trident and have Later Decided Not to Play do I still have to Pay?

YES. We make decisions (both scheduling and financial commitments) based upon all individuals that signed up and committed to pay as part of the registration submission. Payment is due immediately after you register. As a non-profit we have a very limited budget and therefore require that all committed dues be paid regardless if you decide later that you know longer want to proceed. You may submit payment via Venmo to @TridentFCsoccer or check payable to “Trident Football Club” mailed to 595 Sussex Estates, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Include child’s name and season in the notes section.

What Age Groups will have Teams in the SPRING?

We have teams for U8 Boys/Girls, U10 Boys/Girls, U12 Boys/Girls, U14 Boys/Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls. We do not offer any co-ed teams and we recommend that kids wait until they are in 1st grade before they join our club.

HOW Does the AGE Grouping Work?

This can get slightly confusing. Your age group is based upon the age you will turn in that calendar year. The “U” stands for “under” meaning you must be under that age at the end of calendar year to play on that team. So U8 will be made up of 6/7yr olds based upon their age as of the end of the year. By example, if you turn 8 in December you are required to play on U10 which would be made up of 8/9yr olds. In some cases where there is a more talented player they may play up into a higher age group, however, no one can play down an age group if their age does not allow. One complexity to the age group rule is that whatever your age group is for the fall season that remains unchanged for the spring season despite the fact that everyone will be a year older. Age groups are then re-adjusted each fall.

What if I sign up and there is not Enough to form a team or no Head Coach Available?

Based our expectations we do NOT see this being the case for any of our age groups. However, should this occur we will refund any fees paid and we will notify you immediately so that you are able to register in time for other local leagues (ie IAM3RD, LYSA, Other Clubs, ect).

Who will be my Child’s Coach

Please reference “Our Coaches” section. Bear in mind there might be changes to this alignment given needs of the club and final registration numbers. For some age groups we are still working to select the right coach and we welcome any suggestions you might have.

How many times a week do you practice?

We know time is valuable for families. We have one focused practice per week which is 1.5-2hrs for the the younger teams and 2 hours for the older teams. We occasionally will add in an optional practice for those that would like to continue refining their skills.

What Leagues will we Complete in?

This will vary by age group and be dependent upon the skill level of the team. Some teams will compete in the KSSL, others will play within area recreational leagues and others will compete within the BRSL. We do our best to make this decision in a way that properly develops our players and their collective team.

WHere will practices be held?

Practices for the Spring season will be either at Idle Hour Park (212 St. Ann Dr), Trinity Lower School (3900 Rapid Run), Hartland Park, or John Preece Park (780 Richmond Ave). The final location will not be determined until March when the season starts.

When does the season Start and End?

Practices will begin early March with games starting as early as late March. The season will end before Memorial Day weekend.

How many games will we play?

This will vary by age group but each team should expect to play around 8-10 games.

Where will Games be Played?

We expect our U8 and U10 teams to play all their games at Masterson Station. If your child is on a more advanced team they will most likely play in the KSSL and their games will be a mixture of home games (played at Trinity Lower School or John Preece Park Turf Field) and away games within 1.5hrs of Lexington. Teams in the BRSL will play a mixture of home games (played at Trinity lower School or John Preece Park Turf Field) and away games in the greater Lexington area (approx. 30 min drive)

What is your CLub Philosphy on Playing time?

Please reference our “Our Mission” section above.

What are The Costs to Join Trident?

Early Bird Registration for the Spring season was $265 if you registered by Dec 16th, after Dec 16th registration increased to $270 per player and increased again to $350 per player on Jan 16th and forward. REMEBER: We don’t want anyone to NOT play because of cost, even if you need $50 or $100 or $200 off we have sponsor funds that we are glad to apply against your registration. Your registration covers all expenses for the season including your Jersey kit (Home/Away, Shorts and Socks). You simply provide cleats, shin guards and a soccer ball. We do not re-provide Jersey’s to returning players. If you outgrow or lose your Jersey you will be expected to purchase a new one at your expense via our team store. Submit registration payment via Venmo to @TridentFCsoccer or check payable to “Trident Football Club” mailed to 595 Sussex Estates, Nicholasville, KY 40356. We try to be extra mindful of the registration costs for our club and pending new sponsors on the way we hope fees will drop even lower for the coming 2025 Fall season.

What is the New volunteer buyout of $60?

New for the Spring 2025 season is a “Volunteer Buyout”. This is in addition to the registration cost. As our needs for the club grow exponentially so does our need for volunteers as we attempt to keep costs low. When registering a decision is required for each participating player: a) Volunteer to offer support across a variety of options shown at registration OR b) Pay a small $60 volunteer buyout and simply just arrive (we will use these funds to hire out certain activities that can't be covered by our existing volunteers).

If I sign up is that for both Fall and Spring?

No. We would love to have your child for both fall and spring seasons but understand if you can only commit to one of the two seasons which is why we only open up registration for one season at a time. We hope to change that in the future.

How do I get involved?

We thought you’d never ask :) Please check out our “Get Involved” section above. Some positions result in a credit to your child’s registration cost.

Can I Donate to this Amazing Club?

YES. We would so greatly appreciate it. We are an official non-profit 501(c)(3) and are happy to provide a tax receipt. Everyone participating in this club are volunteers and are generously giving of their time and talents. If you know of any businesses that would love to partner with us please help make the introduction!
